GP&J Baker, a century-old fabric brand established in 1884, was founded by brothers George Percival Baker and James Baker. At the time, George Percival was a renowned British landscape artist who was captivated by Eastern art. He drew inspiration from the patterns of Chinese embroidered fabrics and Persian carpets in the family trade, incorporating them into early fabric designs. The brothers were also avid collectors of rare treasures and pattern manuscripts. In 1893, they invited W. J. Thomas and skilled artisans to establish a design studio, drawing inspiration from their vast collection to create patterns. The iconic 20th-century English natural garden floral patterns emerged during this period and have continued to evolve to this day. The brand's dignified, inclusive, noble, and natural character has earned widespread admiration, including the prestigious title of being a supplier to the British royal family.

"Rooted in a rich cultural heritage, with unwavering passion, we provide fabrics and wallpapers imbued with historical charm for modern living" has been the mission of GP&J Baker for over a century. Each redesign process captures the spirit of the times, leaving behind a mark of the era. GP&J Baker records history, stays in step with the times, and adorns the future.
